Woodlands Care Home has had a very productive 2015 and we'd like to share with you all our major and minor changes, designed to continually improve the surroundings and lifestyle of all our residents.
We have completely redecorated the interior and re-carpeted all communal areas. In addition, all the smoke detectors have been replaced.
You will probably have noticed we have replaced our much loved wall murals with modern art work. The Art Gallery, based in Ruislip Manor, has very kindly agreed to provide us with a continually changing art display, which will be changed at regular intervals. These pictures and many more can be purchased from Helen and Steve.
The garden has had a face lift with all weather rattan furniture and a new flower bed. In the pipeline we have a new bespoke canopy being completed, so residents can enjoy the patio area for tea and biscuits or enjoying outdoor activities with Sharon, and have some shade.
We have introduced a new service for Residents called Snappy Tags. These are discs shaped like small buttons to attach to residents clothes which have their room number to alleviate any mix-ups. Please let us know if you would like to participate. Priced at £15 for 50 tags, costs can be deducted from the residents personal allowance.
On the floor we are very happy to introduce Bijal, who has joined us as Deputy Manager. She is a qualified Phlebotomist, Nurse and Midwife in India.
We have several new in Lorraine and Mariana adding to the already well trained and caring side of the team.
Throughout the summer we had groups of students popping in, under supervision, to talk to the residents.
Some returned after their initial visit, putting on small productions to entertain the residents, showing off their skills in drama and photography. This very successful enterprise was enjoyed by all.
An important part of our mission statement is to make this a home from home. We feel a major part of this is to provide as much stimulation as possible! With this in mind, we are very excited about our latest acquisition…
Sharon will update the board weekly, with the programme of activities and the carers will fill in the gaps when Sharon is not around.
We would also like to announce a very exciting addition to our activity staff in the form of Amy. She will be working the days of the week Sharon is not at the home and provide lots of stimulation, giving us a 5 day week programme.
Finally, looking ahead , Andrew has plans in the very early stages to add another floor to the property which will increase the room availability and give us the opportunity to provide more recreational space and improved catering and laundering facilities.
We had our regular summer barbecue on the last Sunday in September for the residents and were lucky enough to have a sunny day. Everyone had a lovely day. The students attended and were a super addition, helping out wherever necessary. A photo board is available in the meeting room.
